prep time 5 minutes mins
soak time 10 minutes mins
total time 15 minutes mins
- Medjool dates (1 cup of packed dates makes about 3/4 cup of date paste)
- Boiling water
If your dates aren’t already pitted, slice each date open and remove the pit.
Place the pitted dates in a bowl and cover them with boiling water. Let soak for about 10-15 minutes.
Drain, transfer the dates to a bowl and use a hand blender (or any other) to blend into a paste.
Transfer the date paste to an airtight container.
- Refrigeration – Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
- Freezing – Freeze in small portions (like in an ice cube tray) for easy use. Defrost as needed.
- Room Temperature – If using within a few days, it can stay at room temperature, but refrigeration is best for freshness.
